Gotham Divers is a small, personable dive shop. We are dedicated to providing you with best recreational as well as technical training. We also carry a full line of equipment to meet all your diving needs.

Our story began many years ago when Alex Barnard and Tim Hughes, along with several friends, decided to take the Open Water SCUBA diving course. They both discovered a lifetime passion for SCUBA and continued to train intensively in the field. After years dedicated to honing their skills as divers and dive instructors they decided to take their love for SCUBA to a new level, and opened Gotham Divers. Fast forward over a decade and now we’ve opened NJ Swim and Scuba to serve Northern NJ.

Come explore our stores in NYC’s East Village and Cedar Grove, NJ. Let us outfit you in the most cutting-edge recreational and technical dive gear. We offer safe and fun training in nearly all levels of SCUBA with seasoned and knowledgeable internationally certified dive instructors. Join us on dive trips to local historic ocean shipwrecks, for nearby quarry diving, venture north for ice diving, west for mine diving, and journey south with us to warmer climes for gorgeous reef, shipwreck and cave diving.

We created Gotham Divers with the goal of providing a place for learning, adventure, and community. Friendly gatherings, both in the store and “at sea”, are our forte.
